Art 1 Final Portfolio

My favorite project this semester was the forced perspective photography. In this project, my group decided to align my body above the shed. This project took precision and accurate timing to allow for a great picture.Forced perspective is a technique that enables an optical illusion where objects far away appear to be smaller aspects of a larger image. This type of photography took a lot of patience and precise notions.  The photographer had to really align my body in the precise position above the shed. To make this project better, I would be more creative and take more pictures. Eventually one picture would completely give a precise view. Overall, I think our group did a great job of working together!

The project that I learned from the most was the skeleton drawing. Although it was one of the very first things we completed in class, it really taught me not to rely on storage symbols. Also, it taught me to be confident in my art even if I don't necessarily like it. At first, i created  very small, and abnormal skeleton. Instead of really looking at the skeleton provided, I focused on the stored symbol of a skeleton in my head. With practice, I created a second skeleton with details, proportion, and perspective. The skeleton had bones with depth and shading. Also, you can see the details shown through the jaw and markings on the pelvis. I used my accurate view of the skeleton to portray a great drawing that really helped me throughout the year!

The project that really tied in my techniques and skills from previous projects was the painting. I really learned to take my time and to focus on the details rather than storage symbols. Also, I really mixed my colors well using value scales. My model was the classic scene from the disney movie, UP. I added a lot of detail with the inclusion of shingles. One major aspect was the sky that I blended. To allow an ombré effect, I dabbed my brush on edges. For clouds, I used a nice, wispy brush and blended edges slightly. Also, I used one point perspective with my house by making the end smaller than the front. Overall, my painting turned out spectacular.

The project that really didn't include many concepts or significance was the hand paintings. The hand paintings really didn't cover any concepts. It required no shading or major details. However, it actually required us to use a stored symbol of an animal and to create this animal on our hands. Although this project was somewhat optional, this project required little art. This project allowed students to show creativity and goof around. I feel that this project was the least important because we didn't further the concept of hands. Overall, this project was my least favorite because it didn't require much learning.

This artwork really reflected me as an artist. Throughout this project, I really focused on detailing. As a perfectionist, art was difficult for me. I constantly strived for exact edges. In this image, I really let that go and allowed creativity to take over. I chose this piece because it really shows what art is all about; expressing your feelings. I had a personal connection to this piece of artwork because it showed that my hard work had paid off. Also, this painting showed precision and detail. i used shadowing and stencils for a great somewhat 3-D image.
